Better Pay 

At Your Way Carelink, we deeply value the mahi (work) that support workers perform in our communities. While traditional full-service agencies in New Zealand often charge service fees of 40% to 60%, we believe there is a better way.

We charge a straightforward, transparent 15% fee from the hourly rate. This model allows us to maintain a high-quality, safe platform while ensuring that our dedicated support workers are fairly compensated. Our goal is to create a seamless experience where support workers can truly work for themselves, earn more, and take pride in the vital role they play in our community. We are committed to keeping our fees fair, our process transparent, and our community's needs at the heart of everything we do.

Independence 

As a Your Way Carelink support worker, you are engaged as an independent subcontractor. This means you are self-managed and operate your own small business.

​

As a subcontractor, you are responsible for:

  • Tax Obligations: Calculating and paying your own Income Tax. We recommend setting aside approximately 20–30% of your earnings in a separate account so you are ready for the end of the financial year.

​

  • ACC Levies: Paying your own ACC levies (specifically the Work and Working Safer levies) which provide you with personal injury cover.

​

  • GST: Registering for and paying GST if your total annual income from all sources exceeds $60,000.

​

  • Expenses: Managing your own work-related expenses, such as travel, equipment, and insurance. Many of these costs may be tax-deductible.

​

  • KiwiSaver: Making your own voluntary contributions to your KiwiSaver scheme if you choose to participate.

​

  • Leave: Budgeting for your own time off, as subcontractors do not receive paid annual leave, sick leave, or public holiday pay.

​

Pro Tip: Many NZ contractors use services like Hnry or a local accountant to automate their tax and ACC payments so they can focus entirely on providing care.
